The Gap Early Childhood Centre is a small, family owned long day care service designed with children, families, community, the natural world and sustainability in mind. The Centre has been providing families with quality education and care for over 40 years. Our objective is to provide children with opportunities for rich, play based learning and a happy and nurturing environment where children and families feel welcome and valued... an environment that instantly says "you belong".
We strive to encourage physical, emotional, social and cognitive development and to build strong foundations for successful learning. We provide an open, friendly and inclusive environment where all families and children feel accepted and welcomed. Our goals include programming that is both exciting and stimulating, while being challenging enough to encourage all children to become independent learners. We value learning happening within an environment where children have uninterrupted periods of play, free choice, along with Educator guided experiences and provocations.
At The Gap Early Childhood Centre, we believe in the strength of working together as a team, with shared goals. We believe that this provides children with a safe and happy environment where they can experience interactions characterised by warmth, affection, sensitivity and responsiveness. Our staff members recognise that each and every child is a unique individual who plays an important role within our community. It is our goal to provide an environment which fosters a deep sense of security, trust and acceptance; an environment which can feel like family.
Children are competent learners and capable of complex learning through self-directed play. Your child will be encouraged to explore, play and be curious about the world around them. We believe in empowering the children to be involved in the construction of the curriculum by using their thoughts and ideas to underpin the program. The Gap Early Childhood Centre values children for their capabilities and competency as learners within supportive partnership with families and Educators, within the local community.
At The Gap Early Childhood Centre we value each child, family and educator as unique and we respect and welcome diversity of culture, belief and ability, as it shapes and enriches our learning environment. It is our hope that your child and your family develop a sense of belonging to our Centre community through the inclusion of your family’s interests in our collaborative approach to your child’s learning and development.
National Quality Framework (NQF)
The National Quality Standard (NQS) is a key aspect of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and sets a national benchmark for early childhood education and care, and outside school hours care services in Australia. Children's education and care services covered under the Education and Care Services National Law are assessed and rated against the NQS. Ratings promote transparency and accountability and help parents assess the quality of education and care services available. Services covered by the National Quality Framework have been assessed and rated against the seven Quality Areas of the National Quality Standard and the Education and Care Services National Regulations. The assessment and rating process aims to drive continuous quality improvement for services and provide families with better information for making choices about their children’s education and care. The overall rating for a service is determined by the combination of the ratings achieved in each Quality Area. Every service receives a rating for each quality area and an overall rating. The Gap Early Childhood Centre was assessed and rated in September 2013. Please see here for a link to our NQF Ratings Chart at the ACECQA (Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority's) website.
